Israeli warplanes carried out an airstrike on Thursday, targeting a residential building and a vehicle in the Dummar area of the Syrian capital, Damascus.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported that the operation may be an “assassination attempt on a leader of the Islamic Jihad Movement.”
The attack resulted in at least one martyr and ignited fires in surrounding residential buildings, with civil defense teams working to extinguish the flames and rescue trapped civilians.
The Israeli army issued a statement confirming the targeting of a site belonging to the “Islamic Jihad” in Damascus, emphasizing that it will “not allow terrorist organizations to establish a presence within Syria.”
