Syrian Ministry of Defense reported early Thursday that the armed forces successfully thwarted an attack by former regime remnants on the Naval Command Headquarters in Latakia, restoring stability to the area.
This attack follows a series of assaults carried out by former regime loyalists in the coastal region, targeting vital sites and security forces. Earlier, the National Hospital in Latakia was also subjected to a similar assault, which security forces managed to repel.
According to Defense Ministry spokesperson Colonel Hassan Abdel Ghani, the military has launched the second phase of its operations, aiming to pursue and eliminate remnants of the former regime officers in rural and mountainous areas to ensure national security and stability.
