Syrian President Approves Constitutional Declaration

Syrian President Ahmed Al-Sharaa approved the Syrian Constitutional Declaration today (Thursday), officially setting the transitional phase at five years. This declaration aims to regulate state governance during this critical period and ensure national stability.

The Constitutional Drafting Committee announced that executive power will be exclusively held by the President during the transitional phase. This measure is intended to ensure swift decision-making and effective crisis management. The committee emphasized that the declaration is not a substitute for a permanent constitution but serves as a legal framework to guide the country toward stability and reconstruction.

The declaration derives its legitimacy from the National Dialogue Conference and the Victory Conference, where Syrian political and social factions agreed on the necessity of a legal framework to govern the transition. The declaration will establish general principles for governance, ensuring an efficient state administration while preserving national unity and territorial integrity.
