Trump’s Envoy Visits Moscow for Ceasefire Talks in Ukraine

the White House announced that President Donald Trump’s special envoy, Steve Witkoff, will visit Moscow this week to hold talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin regarding a ceasefire.

This visit follows successful negotiations between U.S. and Ukrainian officials in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, where Ukraine agreed to a temporary 30-day ceasefire. President Trump described these talks as “successful,” emphasizing that the next move is now Russia’s to accept the agreement.

Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov stated that Russia is awaiting more details from Washington before making a decision on the proposed ceasefire. He also stressed that any agreement must take into account Russia’s military gains and security concerns.

Witkoff’s visit to Moscow is expected to yield tangible progress toward ending the conflict in Ukraine.
