The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) has reported that 30.4 million people in Sudan—equivalent to 64% of the country’s 47.5 million population—require urgent humanitarian aid. Among them, 16 million children are in immediate need of protection and assistance.
Since the outbreak of war in April 2023 between the Sudanese Armed Forces and the Rapid Support Forces, the security and economic situation has deteriorated. The conflict has displaced 14.8 million people, with 3.3 million seeking refuge in neighboring countries.
Approximately 24.6 million people are expected to face acute food insecurity between December 2024 and May 2025, with famine conditions reported in several regions.
