UN Security Council Condemns Rising Violence in Latakia and Tartus, Calls for Civilian Protection

The UN Security Council condemned in an official statement the escalating violence in Latakia and Tartus since March 6, which has systematically targeted civilians, including members of the Alawite community.

The Council described these attacks as “mass killings,” warning of their implications for stability in Syria and the region.
It called for an immediate cessation of hostilities and the protection of civilians.

Additionally, it urged increased support for the UN to enhance humanitarian assistance for those affected, reaffirming its commitment to Syria’s sovereignty.
