Former Afghan President Hamid Karzai urged the Taliban government to reopen schools and universities for Afghan girls as the new school year approaches.

In a statement issued on Sunday, he pointed out that it has been three years since girls were banned from education, warning that this continued deprivation hinders the country’s development.

In this context, Karzai emphasized that education is not just a right, but a fundamental basis for Afghanistan’s prosperity, warning that the continued ban on girls’ education impedes the country’s progress and threatens its future.
