The Lebanese Army announced on Monday that it responded to gunfire launched from Syrian territory towards Lebanese villages and towns in the Al-Qsar – Hermel border area.

The army confirmed in an official statement that it had reinforced its deployment and taken exceptional security measures to control the situation, noting ongoing communications with the Syrian authorities.

These developments come after the killing of three Syrians in clashes at the border, with the Lebanese army handing over the bodies to the Syrian side.

For its part, the Syrian Ministry of Defense accused Hezbollah of kidnapping and executing Syrian soldiers, a claim that Hezbollah vehemently denied.
