The Rwanda-backed M23 rebel group and the Congolese government have confirmed their participation in peace talks in Angola.

The group, which has seized key areas in the eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo since the beginning of the year, announced a delegation has been sent to the capital, Luanda.

The talks, previously rejected by the Congolese government, aim to address the escalating conflict in the region.
