Turkey’s opposition Republican People’s Party has announced the nomination of Istanbul Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu for the presidential elections scheduled for 2028, following his arrest on Sunday.
A party spokesperson stated that İmamoğlu was the only candidate in the primary elections held by the party.
