Sudanese Army Announces Full Control of Khartoum International Airport

The Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) announced on Wednesday, March 26, 2025, that they have regained full control of Khartoum International Airport following intense clashes with the Rapid Support Forces (RSF).

According to Asharq Al-Awsat, the army stated that it had seized key strategic positions in eastern Khartoum, including the airport, as part of a broader military push to reclaim territory held by the RSF since the outbreak of conflict in April 2023.

In response, the RSF denied the army’s claim, insisting that its fighters remain in control of the airport and that government forces have not entered the premises. Independent sources have not yet confirmed either side’s assertions.

The battle over the airport marks a significant flashpoint in the ongoing power struggle between the army and the RSF, which has plunged Sudan into chaos and humanitarian crisis for nearly two years.
