Egypt: Six Russian Tourists Dead and Nine Injured in Red Sea Submarine Accident

An accident involving a tourist submarine in Egypt’s Red Sea governorate resulted in the deaths of six Russian tourists and injuries to nine others, including four in critical condition, during a marine trip to view coral reefs in the city of Hurghada.

According to the Russian consulate, the submarine “Sinbad” was carrying about 44 passengers, all of whom were Russian nationals.

Emergency services in the Red Sea hospitals have been put on high alert to receive the injured, while relevant authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.
