Eid al-Fitr Dates Differ Among Countries: Monday for Some and Sunday for Others

Several countries have announced that the first day of Eid al-Fitr will be on Monday, as the sighting of the Shawwal crescent moon was not confirmed.

These include Tunisia, Algeria, Egypt, Oman, Syria, Jordan, and Indonesia. In Malaysia and Brunei, Eid will also be celebrated on Monday, as today is the 28th of Ramadan, with the crescent visible to the naked eye on Sunday.

Australia, India, and Bangladesh have also declared Monday as the first day of Eid, while Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the UAE, Lebanon, and Palestine confirmed that Sunday is the first day of Eid al-Fitr.
