The US military conducted an airstrike on Saturday targeting ISIS positions in Puntland, Somalia, resulting in the deaths of several militants, according to the US Africa Command (AFRICOM).

AFRICOM stated that the strike was coordinated with the Somali government and hit “multiple targets” associated with ISIS.

The airstrike took place in “southeast Bosaso,” and initial assessments indicate that no civilians were harmed.

This operation follows a similar strike carried out two days earlier, described by AFRICOM as part of a “broader counterterrorism initiative” in Somalia.
