California Wildfire Forces Evacuations and Road Closures

The California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection reported a rapidly spreading wildfire in the Sierra region of Eastern California. The fire burned 1,000 acres and necessitated the evacuation of residents from several counties.

Evacuation orders were issued for multiple communities, and a section of US Highway 6 was closed for 48 kilometers.

There have been no reports of injuries or property damage so far, and the cause of the fire is under investigation.

Over 200 firefighters are battling the blaze, but wind gusts of up to 56 kilometers per hour at Bishop Airport have hindered aerial firefighting efforts.
