Trump Prepares for Visit to Saudi Arabia and Gulf States in May Amid Regional Tensions

Donald Trump is set to visit Saudi Arabia and several Gulf states in mid-May, making Riyadh, as in his previous term, his first foreign destination as President of the United States.

Trump stated that the visit to Saudi Arabia could take place in the middle of next month “or shortly thereafter,” expressing his desire to visit Qatar and emphasizing that a visit to the UAE is also “very important.”

U.S. media has focused on the economic aspect of the visit, especially after Riyadh confirmed its interest in enhancing trade relations with Washington through billions of dollars in investments.
