The Israeli army on Wednesday admitted to bombing a United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) clinic sheltering displaced people in Jabalia refugee camp, northern Gaza, killing 19 Palestinians, including 9 children.
In a statement posted on X, the Israeli military claimed that Hamas militants were hiding inside the facility and that it served as a central meeting point. However, local sources reported that the clinic was housing hundreds of displaced civilians, mostly women and children.
This deadly strike marks yet another escalation in Israel’s ongoing military campaign in Gaza, which has drawn increasing international condemnation over its devastating toll on civilians and repeated attacks on UN facilities.
The death toll in Gaza has surpassed 32,000 since the start of the war, according to the Gaza Health Ministry, with calls mounting globally for an immediate ceasefire and humanitarian intervention.
