The Lebanese Army announced on Wednesday the closure of two illegal crossings along the northern and eastern borders with Syria, specifically in the areas of Doura – Hermel and Masharee’ Al-Qaa.
In a statement published on its official website, the Army Command – Directorate of Orientation said: “As part of efforts to combat infiltration and smuggling across the northern and eastern borders, an army unit closed two illegal border crossings in Doura – Hermel and Masharee’ Al-Qaa.”
This move is part of Lebanon’s ongoing operations to secure its border with Syria, which has long witnessed smuggling activities involving subsidized goods and contraband, often triggering security incidents in the northern Bekaa region.
The army has previously affirmed its commitment to maintaining security and continuing field operations to control illegal activities in border areas, particularly amid the country’s ongoing economic crisis.
