Turkey and EU to Hold High-Level Economic Dialogue in Brussels After 6-Year Hiatus

The Belgian capital, Brussels, will host on Thursday the High-Level Economic Dialogue (HLED) meeting between Turkey and the European Union, marking the first such meeting in six years

The HLED mechanism was first established during a summit between Ankara and the EU on November 29, 2015, aimed at enhancing channels of communication and cooperation. The first meeting was held in Turkey on April 25–26, 2016, followed by additional sessions in September 2016 and February 2019 in Istanbul.

This week’s meeting comes amid renewed efforts to rebuild Turkish-EU relations, especially following European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen’s visit to Turkey last December, where she met with President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
