The Ministry of Health in Gaza announced Thursday that the number of Palestinians killed has risen to 1,163 since Israel resumed its large-scale offensive on the enclave on March 18.
The statement noted that a majority of the casualties are women and children. The Israeli military continues to carry out intensive airstrikes and artillery bombardment across various areas of Gaza, causing massive destruction to civilian infrastructure, including hospitals and schools.
The renewed Israeli assault is being carried out under the pretext of targeting “resistance infrastructure,” while Palestinian officials describe it as a deliberate campaign of genocide against civilians.
Hospitals in Gaza are facing an acute humanitarian crisis, with severe shortages of medical supplies and equipment, amid a rising number of wounded and displaced individuals.
