The 11th edition of the Qumra Film Forum officially opened on Friday evening in the Qatari capital, Doha, under the organization of the Doha Film Institute, drawing wide participation from filmmakers and cinema professionals around the globe.
The opening ceremony took place at the Museum of Islamic Art, attended by a large audience of cinema enthusiasts, as well as directors, producers, and international festival programmers. The strong turnout reflects Qumra’s growing reputation as a key platform for nurturing emerging voices in Arab and international cinema.
Qumra is designed to offer a collaborative and educational environment, connecting emerging filmmakers in various stages of development and production with leading global industry mentors through one-on-one sessions, workshops, and expert consultations.
This year’s program includes special film screenings, open panel discussions, and advanced advisory sessions for projects currently being developed with the support of the Doha Film Institute, helping to elevate the profile of Arab independent cinema on the international stage.
The forum will continue through the upcoming week, with expectations of further regional and international partnerships aimed at supporting independent film production.
