Lula da Silva: We Will Respond to U.S. Tariffs After Exhausting All Negotiation Avenues

President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva stated that Brazil will reciprocate the tariffs imposed by the United States but will first endeavor to utilize all available negotiation channels

Speaking to journalists after the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC) summit in Honduras, Lula emphasized that Brazil will use “every word for negotiation that is in the dictionary” before considering any retaliatory measures. He added, “After these negotiations are concluded, we will make the appropriate decisions.”

These remarks follow U.S. President Donald Trump’s announcement of sweeping tariffs on imports, including a 10% levy on Brazilian products. This decision has prompted widespread international reactions, with many countries seeking either negotiations or countermeasures to safeguard their trade interest
