The main federation of labor unions in Argentina led massive protests in the capital, Buenos Aires, on Wednesday against the austerity policies of President Javier Milei, ahead of a nationwide 24-hour general strike. Union members joined retirees, students, political groups, and soccer fans, demanding better pensions and increased income.
The General Confederation of Labor (CGT) described the strike as a cry against “unbearable social inequality,” accusing the government of indifference.
The strike is expected to paralyze airports, banks, and public services, while the government questioned the legitimacy of the unions’ demands.
