25 Civilians Killed in Rapid Support Forces Attack on Displacement Camp in North Darfur

At least 25 civilians, including women and children, were killed on Friday  in an attack carried out by Sudan’s Rapid Support Forces (RSF) on the Zamzam displacement camp, located near the city of Al-Fashir in North Darfur state, western Sudan.

According to a statement by the Al-Fashir Resistance Coordination Committee, a local grassroots body, RSF forces attacked the camp from both the southern and eastern axes. The committee reported that the local population attempted to repel the assault despite limited resources.

The statement added that initial information indicates the death of 25 people, along with several others injured. However, the full extent of the damage remains unclear due to ongoing internet outages in the region. As of the time of reporting, no official comment has been issued by the RSF.

The Zamzam camp is one of the largest displacement camps in the Darfur region, housing tens of thousands of civilians who have fled conflict zones across the country. The attack comes amid a surge in violence in Darfur, which continues to face worsening security conditions and mounting humanitarian concerns, according to international observers.
