6.2-Magnitude Earthquake Strikes Off Papua New Guinea Coast with No Reported Damage


A 6.2-magnitude earthquake struck off the coast of New Ireland in Papua New Guinea on Saturday, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.

The quake occurred at a depth of 72 kilometers and about 115 kilometers southeast of Kokopo city.

Emonk Abilis, a receptionist at Kokopo Beach Bungalow Resort, said the tremor lasted for about a minute without causing any noticeable damage in the area.
