China has unveiled the world’s first unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) specifically designed for medical rescue missions. The breakthrough drone was jointly developed by Haishen, a subsidiary of the China State Shipbuilding Corporation, and the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
According to Huang Yuhong, Chairman and Chief Engineer at Haishen, the drone is capable of performing precision rescue operations in extreme environments — from rough seas and salty marine climates to sub-zero temperatures as low as -46°C, and altitudes reaching 5,000 meters.
Equipped with advanced medical features such as respiratory support and real-time vital signs monitoring, the drone can deliver emergency treatment on-site and swiftly transport injured individuals. The innovation marks a significant advancement in disaster response and remote emergency care.
Official Chinese state media, including CCTV and Xinhua News Agency, confirmed the development on April 11, citing national efforts to integrate high technology with emergency medical infrastructure.
