China has suspended exports of a wide range of critical metals and rare-earth magnets, in a retaliatory move against newly imposed U.S. tariffs of up to 140% on Chinese goods, announced by former President Donald Trump.
According to The New York Times on Sunday evening, large shipments of magnets essential for manufacturing electric vehicles, drones, semiconductors, and missiles have been halted at several Chinese ports.
Reports indicate that the Chinese government is working to implement a new regulatory framework to oversee these materials, a move seen as a powerful economic lever that could disrupt global supply chains.
