Daniel Noboa Wins Re-Election in Ecuador with Clear Majority

Ecuador’s National Electoral Council has declared incumbent President Daniel Noboa the winner of Sunday’s presidential runoff, securing 55.8% of the vote against leftist rival Luisa Gonzalez, who received 44.1%, according to near-complete results.

Despite the wide margin, Gonzalez rejected the results, alleging “widespread fraud” and calling for a full recount. Noboa hailed his victory as a “historic achievement,” vowing economic and security reforms as he prepares to begin his new term officially in May.
