Hamas Sets Conditions for Prisoner Swap Deal with Israel

The Islamic Resistance Movement “Hamas” announced on Monday its key conditions for agreeing to a new prisoner exchange deal with Israel, as part of ongoing efforts to achieve a ceasefire and a comprehensive truce in the Gaza Strip.

Senior sources within the movement stated that Hamas is demanding the release of a large number of Palestinian prisoners from Israeli jails, including those serving long sentences and prisoners who were rearrested after being freed in previous swap deals, particularly the “Gilad Shalit” (Wafa al-Ahrar) deal.

Hamas also emphasized the cessation of Israeli aggression on Gaza, international guarantees to prevent the re-arrest of released prisoners, and unconditional and consistent entry of humanitarian aid into the besieged enclave.
