The Chinese government has ordered its civil airlines to refrain from purchasing aircraft from the American company Boeing.

Beijing confirmed that the purchase of any equipment or spare parts related to aircraft from American companies has become “prohibited” following Washington’s imposition of a 145% tariff on Chinese goods.

This decision comes at a time when the United States was preparing to sell 10 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft to Chinese airlines.
