Iraq Summons Lebanese Ambassador Over President’s Comments

Iraq’s Foreign Ministry summoned the Lebanese ambassador to Baghdad today in response to President Joseph Aoun’s “unfortunate” remarks.

The ministry emphasized the need to “not involve Iraq in Lebanon’s internal crisis,” asserting that the Popular Mobilization Forces are vital to Iraq’s security structure.

This follows Aoun’s statement that Lebanon would not replicate the Iraqi model, stressing the importance of dialogue to control weapons within the state.
