On Wednesday, the European Commission announced the first unified European list of “safe” countries for asylum purposes, streamlining the processing of applications from citizens of these countries within three months.

The list includes Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Georgia, Moldova, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Serbia, Turkey, Kosovo, Bangladesh, Colombia, Egypt, India, Morocco, and Tunisia.

The list requires approval from the European Parliament and member states before implementation.
