French Interior Minister Bruno Retailleau called on Thursday for “increased pressure” on Algeria and the use of “other tools” if it continues to refuse to take back its citizens deported from France.
Retailleau stated that he has become the “main target” of Algerian authorities. In a statement to RTL radio, he said, “We have many tools, such as visas and agreements.”
The Algerian Foreign Ministry issued a statement condemning the French Interior Minister’s “ongoing negative and disgraceful stance towards Algeria.”
