The Wafa news agency reports that Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas has arrived in Damascus for his first state visit since Bashar al-Assad’s fall.

Abbas was welcomed at the airport by Syria’s Foreign Minister Asaad al-Shirazi and is expected to meet Syria’s new president, Ahmed al-Sharaa.

This visit follows a January trip by a Palestinian delegation led by Prime Minister Mohammad Mustafa to meet with al-Sharaa.
