Syrian Air announced on Thursday that it will resume direct flights to the United Arab Emirates starting next Sunday, following a suspension since January 2025 after the ousting of former President Bashar al-Assad in December 2024.
The airline stated on its official Facebook page that the flights will include Dubai and Sharjah airports, with a specified weekly schedule. This announcement comes days after the UAE’s General Civil Aviation Authority declared the resumption of flights between the two countries, aiming to strengthen bilateral ties and support passenger and cargo movement between Syria and the UAE.
The resumption of flights follows Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa’s first visit to the UAE, where he met with UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. The visit aimed to reassure foreign partners of Syria’s commitment to establishing an inclusive political system.
