The Wall Street Journal reported that the Trump administration is willing to discuss easing sanctions on Syria, provided that the Syrian government commits to combating terrorism.

The United States threatened to take a hardline stance against the new administration led by Ahmad al-Shara, demanding that it “suppress extremists and expel Palestinian factions in exchange for limited sanctions relief.”

Additionally, the transitional government was urged to secure the country’s stockpile of chemical weapons.
