12 Killed, 30 Injured in U.S. Airstrikes on Sanaa as Raids Expand Across Four Yemeni Provinces

At least 12 people were killed and 30 others injured late Sunday in U.S. airstrikes targeting a popular market and a residential neighborhood in the Furwah district of the Yemeni capital Sanaa, according to the Ministry of Health under the Houthi-controlled government (not internationally recognized).

The ministry stated on platform “X” that civil defense and ambulance teams are still working to retrieve victims from under the rubble. The initial toll had reported 3 deaths and 12 injuries before rising to the current figures.

In the early hours of Monday, U.S. warplanes launched additional strikes across several Yemeni provinces. These included four airstrikes on Sirwah District and two on the Al-Jawiyah District in Marib Governorate.

Three more strikes hit Harf Sufyan District in Amran Governorate (north), along with four strikes in southern Saada city and a fifth on Sahar District in the same province. An additional strike targeted Jabal Al-Mahwit District in Al-Mahwit Governorate.

The escalation comes amid heightened tensions between Washington and the Houthis, particularly following Houthi attacks on Red Sea shipping routes. The U.S. maintains that its operations are aimed at “safeguarding maritime security” and countering growing regional threats.
