Iran announced on Monday that Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi will travel to China on Tuesday, just days before a new round of indirect nuclear negotiations is expected to take place between Tehran and Washington.
Speaking at his weekly press briefing, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmail Baghaei said:
“The Foreign Minister will head to China tomorrow (Tuesday),” according to AFP.
The visit comes amid heightened diplomatic activity in the region, as Iran seeks to consolidate support from its strategic partners ahead of the anticipated talks.
China, a key signatory to the 2015 nuclear agreement, continues to play a vital role in mediating between Iran and the U.S. in efforts to revive the stalled diplomatic track.
