UN Report: Asian Cybercrime Syndicates Cause $37 Billion in Losses

Asian cybercrime syndicates have inflicted an estimated $37 billion in losses across East and Southeast Asia, with the United Nations warning of their expanding global reach.

In a report released on Monday, the UN Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) detailed how Chinese and Southeast Asian gangs are generating tens of billions of dollars annually by targeting victims through various cybercrimes, including fraudulent investments, cryptocurrency scams, romance schemes, and more.

The agency highlighted that these gangs are not only affecting Asia but are also establishing new footholds in Africa, South America, and the Middle East.
