Indian PM Visits Saudi Arabia to Boost Strategic Partnership and Economic Cooperation

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi began a two-day official visit to Saudi Arabia on Tuesday, aiming to enhance strategic ties and explore avenues for cooperation in energy, investment, and trade.

According to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), Modi arrived in the city of Jeddah, where he was welcomed at King Abdulaziz International Airport by Deputy Governor of Makkah Region Prince Saud bin Mishal and Trade Minister Majid Al-Qasabi, along with senior Saudi officials.

A key highlight of the visit is the second meeting of the Saudi-Indian Strategic Partnership Council, following the first session hosted in New Delhi in September 2023 during Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman’s visit to India.

According to Saudi media, including Asharq Al-Awsat newspaper, the two leaders are expected to discuss ways to strengthen economic relations, cooperation in the energy sector, and boost mutual trade and investment.

Diplomatic ties between the two nations date back to 1947, with the relationship elevated to embassy level in 1955—underscoring the historic depth of ties between the two Asian powers.
