The Ansar Allah group (Houthis) announced on Wednesday that it had launched a hypersonic ballistic missile targeting the Haifa area in northern Israel, in what it described as a response to “support the Palestinian people and reject the genocide being committed against Gaza.”
In an official statement, the group said: “The missile force of the Yemeni Armed Forces carried out a special military operation targeting a vital site of the Zionist enemy in the occupied Haifa area using a hypersonic ballistic missile.”
The statement claimed that the missile successfully hit its target, noting that Israeli air defense systems failed to intercept it, which allegedly caused widespread panic among Israeli settlers, with over two million people reportedly heading to shelters.
As of now, there has been no official response from the Israeli side regarding the alleged strike, and independent sources have not confirmed the claims made in the Houthi statement.
