Indian authorities have heightened security measures in Kashmir following a bloody attack that killed 26 people, mostly tourists, in Pahalgam.

Indian forces launched a large-scale security operation, deploying numerous soldiers and establishing new checkpoints.

Police spokespeople labeled the attack “terrorist,” though no group has claimed responsibility yet.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi condemned the “heinous act” and vowed to hold the perpetrators accountable.
