Sudan: 4 Civilians Killed, 12 Injured in Rapid Support Forces Shelling on El Fasher

The Sudanese army announced on Saturday that four civilians were killed and 12 others injured following artillery shelling by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) on the city of El Fasher, the capital of North Darfur State in western Sudan.

In a statement, the army’s Sixth Infantry Division in El Fasher said, “The RSF militia intermittently shelled the city on Friday, resulting in the martyrdom of four civilians and the injury of 12 others, who were transported to hospitals for treatment.”

The RSF has not yet commented on the incident. However, the militia has continued its artillery bombardment of El Fasher for several days, leading to dozens of casualties, according to local authorities.

Since May 10, 2024, El Fasher has witnessed intense clashes between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces, despite international warnings about the dangers of fighting in the city, which serves as the humanitarian operations hub for all five Darfur states.
