Iraq: Baghdad Ready to Host Arab Summit in May

The Iraqi government confirmed on Tuesday that Baghdad is fully prepared to host the 34th session of the Arab League Summit, scheduled for May 17, according to Iraqi diplomatic sources.

The sources stated that all logistical preparations have been completed by the relevant authorities, and no official notification of any change to the planned date has been received thus far.

A delegation from the Arab League General Secretariat arrived in Baghdad on Tuesday to review the final preparations for the summit, which will take place amid a tense regional climate.

The summit will also closely follow the conclusion of U.S. President Donald Trump’s upcoming visit to Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates, scheduled from May 13 to 16, adding further political significance to the event.
