A magnitude 5.0 earthquake struck Razavi Khorasan Province in northeastern Iran early Thursday morning, leaving 29 people injured, according to Iran’s Mehr News Agency.
The quake occurred at 5:10 a.m. local time (4:40 a.m. Moscow time) and affected five cities across the province. Authorities reported that the epicenter was located at a depth of 10 kilometers beneath the surface.
Initial reports indicated 19 injuries, but the toll was later revised to 29 as emergency teams continued to assess the impact. No fatalities have been reported so far.
Rescue and relief teams are currently evaluating the damage in the affected areas, while local authorities have urged residents to remain cautious in anticipation of possible aftershocks.
