South Korea’s acting president, Han Duck-soo, announced his resignation on Thursday, hinting at a possible bid in the upcoming presidential election scheduled for June 3. The move ends weeks of speculation over his political intentions.

Han made the announcement during a press conference at the government complex in Seoul, stating that “the next phase requires new leadership that reflects the aspirations of the people.” While he did not officially confirm his candidacy, he suggested that a formal decision would be announced soon.
