Uzbekistan Announces Postponement of Second GCC–Central Asia Summit

Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced on Friday the postponement of the second summit between the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and Central Asian countries, which was scheduled to take place next Monday in Uzbekistan.

In a statement to Anadolu Agency, the ministry confirmed that the decision was made through mutual agreement among the participating parties.

The statement added that consultations are ongoing to determine a new date, and that “details regarding the rescheduled summit will be announced at a later time.”

The summit was expected to bring together the leaders of five Central Asian countries—Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Turkmenistan—along with the heads of the six GCC states: Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain, and Oman.

The first GCC–Central Asia summit was held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia in 2023, where leaders laid the foundation for strategic cooperation in areas including economy, energy, and regional security.
