Beijing to Host World’s First Humanoid Robot Games in August

Beijing, the capital of China, is set to host the world’s first-ever Humanoid Robot Games in August, marking a groundbreaking global event aimed at assessing the mobility, coordination, and teamwork capabilities of humanoid robots.

According to the Beijing Daily, Jiang Guangqi, head of the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Economy and Information Technology, stated during a press conference on Wednesday that the event will serve as a comprehensive test of the “intelligence” and “physical fitness” of humanoid robots through various competitions.

The games will feature 19 major events divided into three categories, including 100m, 400m, 1500m, 4×100m relay races, as well as 100m hurdles, standing long jump, standing high jump, floor gymnastics, and football matches in 2v2, 3v3, and 5v5 formats.

In addition to the main events, the games will include secondary competitions designed to showcase the capabilities of non-humanoid robots, with events like badminton, basketball, and table tennis, allowing for interactive experiences between humans and robots.

Beijing aims to leverage the event to solidify its position as a global hub for technology and innovation, while assessing how well artificial intelligence integrates with physical systems in humanoid robots.
