Israel launched 14 airstrikes on the Nabatieh region in southern Lebanon on Thursday, marking one of the most intense bombardments since the US-brokered ceasefire came into effect in November 2024, two Lebanese security sources told Reuters.
Local media reported that the strikes primarily targeted wooded and mountainous areas, away from residential centers. No immediate reports of casualties have been confirmed.
The ceasefire agreement, which took effect on November 27, followed two months of open conflict between Israel and the Iran-backed Hezbollah group in Lebanon. Since then, both sides have repeatedly accused each other of violating the truce.
The latest escalation comes amid rising tensions in the region, raising concerns about a potential collapse of the ceasefire and the resumption of hostilities.
