The Kremlin has announced that Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping will hold extensive talks in Moscow today, ahead of Russia’s 80th Victory Day celebrations, marking the defeat of Nazi Germany and its allies in World War II.
According to the Kremlin, the joint agenda will include a full day of discussions starting in the early morning, focusing on international issues, BRICS cooperation, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, and the G20, as well as bilateral trade relations.
The summit will also address energy cooperation, particularly the proposed Power of Siberia-2 gas pipeline, which would connect eastern Russia with western China.
Following the talks, Putin and Xi are expected to sign two joint statements, one emphasizing global strategic stability, and another underscoring the deepening of comprehensive partnership and strategic interaction as the two nations commemorate the 80th anniversary of the Soviet Union’s victory over Nazi Germany and China’s victory over Japan, achieved with Soviet support.
